Asian handicap with a worked example
Suppose the home team is priced at -0.75 with odds of 1.95, and you stake 400,000 VND. A quarter line splits your stake in two: 200,000 VND at -0.5 and 200,000 VND at -1.0.
- Home wins by two or more goals: both halves win, and your profit is 380,000 VND.
- Home wins by exactly one: the -0.5 half wins 190,000 VND and the -1.0 half is refunded.
- Draw or home defeat: both halves lose, and you are down 400,000 VND.
Asian books often show Hong Kong odds, where 0.95 means the same as decimal 1.95. Most sportsbooks let you switch the odds format in their settings.

A two-way market priced at 1.90 on each side carries a margin of about 5%, so you need to win 52.6% of such bets to break even. Parlays multiply that margin. Three legs at 1.90 pay 6.86, while three true coin-flips should pay 8.00, which is a built-in cost of about 14%.

What does a handicap of 0 or -0.5 mean?
A 0 handicap is draw no bet: if the match is drawn, your stake comes back. At -0.5 your team simply has to win, because a draw counts as a loss.
